Caterpillar, Boeing share gains contribute to Dow's 339-point rally

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is rallying Thursday morning with shares of Caterpillar and Boeing leading the way for the blue-chip average. Shares of Caterpillar CAT, +8.33% and Boeing BA, +5.13% have contributed about half of the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +1.05% is trading 339 points, or 1.1%, higher. Caterpillar’s shares are up $16.05 (8.2%) while those of Boeing have risen $8.02 (6.0%), combining for a roughly 159-point boost for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are Honeywell HON, +4.46%, McDonald’s MCD, +3.16%, and Chevron CVX, +1.93%. A $1 move in any of the benchmark’s 30 components equates to a 6.59-point swing.
