Johnson & Johnson stock rises Tuesday, still underperforms market

Shares of Johnson & Johnson inched 0.02% higher to $163.40 Tuesday, on what proved to be an all-around positive trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index rising 1.29% to 4,164.00 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.78% to 34,156.69. The stock’s rise snapped a two-day losing streak. Johnson & Johnson closed $23.29 below its 52-week high ($186.69), which the company reached on April 25th.

The stock outperformed some of its competitors Tuesday, as Procter & Gamble Co. fell 0.98% to $140.02. Trading volume (7.3 M) eclipsed its 50-day average volume of 7.2 M.
