Louisiana could see flooding from Invest 90-L

Alert Day: Several inches of rain are likely across the areas located within the watch

THE GAME WILL KICK OFF AT NOON IN THE NEWLY RENOVATED CAESARS SUPERDOME. HOPEFULLY, THEY GET THE WIN HERE THIS WEEKEND. LET’S TALK ABOUT HERE OUR WEATHER. THINGS ARE STILL VERY, VERY, VERY WET ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA. IN FACT, SO SOGGY THAT WE REALLY CAN’T SEE A WHOLE LOT OF THE CAMERA SHOT THERE BEHIND ME SHOWING THE CRESCENT CITY CONNECTION. BUT THE VISIBILITY LOWERING HERE A LITTLE BIT BECAUSE THE TOWERS UP IN THE AIR AND ALSO JUST ALL THE RAIN HERE FOGGING UP THE CAMERA LENSES. LET’S GET TO WDSU FIRST WARNING DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR. AND YOU CAN SEE THINGS ARE VERY BUSY ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA GETTING A BIT OF A BREAK HERE IN MOST LOCATIONS. HOWEVER, AS A MATTER OF FACT, JUST LOOKING AT CLOUDY WITH A LITTLE BIT OF SOME LIGHT DRIZZLE HERE CURRENTLY BEING REPORTED THERE ALONG THE SOUTH SHORE. LET’S ZOOM IN HERE A LITTLE BIT TO SOME OF THE HEAVIER TOTALS, OR AT LEAST RAINFALL WISE HERE ON THE REFLECTIVITY ON THE RADAR. AND YOU CAN SEE THAT LIGHT TO MODERATE ACTIVITY HERE CURRENTLY BEING DETECTED. THERE ALONG SOUTHERN TANGIPAHOA AT THE MOMENT. ALSO SOME FLOOD WARNINGS BACK TO OUR WEST JUST OUTSIDE OF OUR VIEWING AREA AND ALSO UP TOWARDS SAINT TAMMANY MANDEVILLE. LOOKING AT SOME LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN. THE LAKE HERE ALSO LOOKING AT SOME LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN. WE ALSO HAD A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FOR EASTERN SAINT TAMMANY NEAR SLIDELL THAT HAS SINCE BEEN ALLOWED TO EXPIRE UP TOWARDS I-10. JUST LOOKING AT SOME LIGHT TO MARGINAL RAIN SHOWERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY TRACKING THEIR WAY THROUGH. SO WE’LL TAKE THE MUCH NEEDED BREAK BECAUSE THERE IS GOING TO BE SOME MORE ON THE WAY HERE FOR US TO DEAL WITH OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. LET’S GET TO THE LAST 6 HOURS OR 12 HOURS, I SHOULD SAY, HERE TODAY. THIS IS REALLY WHAT WE’VE BEEN DEALING WITH. ALL THE RAINFALL THAT CONTINUES TO TRACK ITS WAY ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA FROM THE SOUTH, COMING UP FROM THE GULF AND SPEAKING OF THE GULF, THERE’S A GOOD REASON WHY WE’RE SO WET. IT’S THIS AREA OF LOW PRESSURE THAT THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER HAS DESIGNATED AS INVEST 90, MEANING THAT THEY’RE KEEPING A CLOSE EYE FOR POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT. THEY’RE RUNNING SOME COMPUTER MODELS ON THIS HERE AS WELL. NOW, REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT, IT’S STILL GOING TO BE SPREADING. HEAVY RAIN ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA. AS OF RIGHT NOW, IT HAS ABOUT A 10% CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS. AND ALSO THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. LET’S GET TO SOME OF THE FLOOD ALERTS. IT’S A FLOOD WATCH THAT CONTINUES FOR THE AREA UNTIL 7:00 TOMORROW OR 7:00 SATURDAY MORNING. EXCUSE ME. FOR MUCH OF SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA. WE ARE GOING TO UPGRADE THIS TO NOW A ALERT DAY FOR TOMORROW. BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH TODAY IS STILL A MODERATE, WE’RE EXPECTING THIS TOMORROW TO BE UPGRADED AS WELL. AND THAT’S BECAUSE OF THAT AREA OF LOW PRESSURE. YOU CAN SEE ACROSS THE GULF OF MEXICO, SPREADING ALL THE HEAVY RAIN ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA. HERE’S TONIGHT YOU CAN SEE ALL THAT WET WEATHER THAT WILL CONTINUE. AND CHECK OUT WHAT’S HAPPENING BACK TO THE WEST OF US WITH THAT LOW AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE IN OUR GENERAL DIRECTION, IT’S GOING TO BE SPREADING THAT HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA THROUGHOUT THE DAY TOMORROW. AND HERE COMES EVEN SOME MORE HEAVY RAIN COMING INTO THE AREA AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW NIGHT. AND ALSO INTO EARLY SATURDAY. AND THERE YOU CAN SEE IT TRYING TO TAKE SHAPE HERE, DEVELOPING A LITTLE BIT JUST SOUTH OF US. BUT REGARDLESS, THOUGH STILL SPREADING VERY HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE AREA INTO SATURDAY. SO THERE WE GO FOR TOMORROW. THIS IS JUST RECENTLY UPGRADED TO THAT LEVEL THREE MODERATE. SO THAT MEANS THAT WE’RE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND ISSUE A WDSU FIRST WARNING WEATHER ALERT DAY, BECAUSE WE COULD BE LOOKING AT SOME FLOODING ASSOCIATED FOR TOMORROW. RAIN CHANCES 100% TOMORROW DOWN TO 50 SATURDAY, 30 SUNDAY AND MONDAY. WE’RE GOING TO INCREASE THE ODDS THOUGH TO 70 FOR TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. AND IN FACT, WE COULD BE LOOKING AT ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS ANYWHERE BETWEEN 3 TO 5IN FOR NEW ORLEANS. AND ALSO THE NORTH SHORE. I THINK THE HIGHER TOTALS 5 TO 8IN OR MORE CLOSER DOWN TOWARDS THE COAST AND THE GULF. BUT THE TROPICS THOUGH, BESIDES THAT SYSTEM IN THE WESTERN GULF, I’M ALSO WATCHING FOR OTHER AREAS OF CONCERN HERE. THEY ALL HAVE A LOW CHANCE OF TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS, AND THERE’S NO IMMEDIATE THREAT TO SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA. WDSU FIRST WARNING, SEVEN DAY FORECAST. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE 80S, LOWS 60S 7
