Twitter Says U.S. Subscribers Can Tweet Up to 4,000 Characters

Twitter Inc. said it would allow U.S. subscribers to pen much longer tweets, up to 4,000 characters, more than 14 times the previous limit, a change to the character-limit rules that long defined the snappy pace of conversation on the platform. Starting Wednesday, subscribers in the U.S. to the Twitter Blue subscription service will be able to write tweets at the longer length, according to a post from the company’s Twitter Blue account. Twitter’s character limit for other users will remain 280 characters, which has been in place since 2017.
