Invest 92L: Latest on disturbance in the Atlantic
The National Hurricane Center said a large area of low pressure in the Atlantic, designated as Invest 92L, will likely become a tropical depression or Tropical Storm Gabrielle sometime this week. Gabrielle will be the 7th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs through Nov. 30, 2025.
ORLANDO, Fla. – The odds of development for a tropical wave swirling in the Atlantic continue to grow, and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has now designated the organizing system as Invest 92L.

This system has become better organized since Sunday and is expected to move through a favorable environment for further development.

Forecasters with the NHC say a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form by the middle to latter part of this week as the system moves west-northwestward at 10–15 mph over the Central Tropical Atlantic.

–>
The tropical wave currently has a 50% chance of development over the next 48 hours and a 90% chance of development over the next week.

Will the system impact the United States or Florida?
–>
Local perspective:
<!–>
It’s currently too early to know if the system will impact the United States or Florida.
–>
However, based on some models and forecasts, it does not appear that this wave would impact the U.S. East Coast. There’s the potential for a dip in the jet stream in the east, as well as the ridge in the Atlantic to steer this system out to sea.

The FOX 35 Storm Team will continue to monitor the system.
