European lawmakers say they will not be blackmailed, as they respond to President Donald Trump’s threats of tariffs against countries voicing support for Greenland. And with the US president signalling a tougher economic stance towards allies, concern is growing in Brussels of a looming trade war.

For more on what President Trump is planning, we head to the Swiss village of Davos to connect with our EU editor Maria Tadeo. With her: Mirek Dusek, Managing Director for the World Economic Forum, who offers his insights and perspective on the EU-US spat over Greenland.

And from Davos to the European Parliament. Italian MEP Brando Benifei, who also heads Parliament’s delegation for relations with the United States, joins us to talk about Trump’s threat to raise tariffs and how should the EU react.

Lastly, our reporter Jakub Janas takes a step back to explain how the EU and the US have got here, what could follow next, and why it matters for citizens.
