US Stock Market Live Updates: US stock futures edged higher on Monday, signalling a cautious start to a holiday-shortened week as investors navigated persistent geopolitical tensions and a fresh uptick in energy prices. Movements in crude oil and bond yields remain key cues for broader risk sentiment.
Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose about 0.5%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures gained roughly 0.5% and 0.4%, respectively, pointing to modest optimism at the open.
The move comes as crude prices climbed, with Brent rising around 2% to above $115 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate holding above $101. The gains followed comments from US President Donald Trump, who said Tehran had agreed to most elements of Washington’s proposed 15-point plan, including allowing additional oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite the positive start, Wall Street enters the week on a weak footing, with the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq logging five straight weekly losses.
Investors now turn to key labour market data, including JOLTS, ADP payrolls, and the March jobs report, with markets shut on Friday for Good Friday.
