The two-time Featherweight champion will be competing against Brazilian MMA fighter Diego Lopes. When asked about his retirement plans post UFC 325 bout, Volkanovski clarified that he has no such plans at the moment. However, he did hint that he does not have a clear road map regarding his future.

The 37-year-old is one of the most respected and loved fighters in the UFC. Even though UFC is an aggressive and somewhat subjective sport (when it comes to preferences such as favourite fighters), Alexander Volkanovski seems to have a lot fewer haters compared to other fighters at his level. This is all due to his insane work ethic, humility, and extremely rare trash talk.
Moreover, after confirming that the rumours of his retirement are all baseless, Volkanovski continued to talk about his plans for the next fight.

Alexander Volkanovski Breaks Down His UFC 325 Strategy
‘The Great’ Volkanovski will be stepping inside the Octagon against Diego Lopes for the second time, which came as a shock to many. The first bout between the duo took place back in April 2025, where Volkanovski defeated Lopes after a tough battle. While the Australian managed to defend his title, he certainly faced numerous difficulties.
Talking about his plans for the second bout, Alexander Volkanovski told 10 News reporter: “My plans are going out there, and as I told you, not taking too much damage going out there, really setting the statement, and make it, you know, be really impressive in there. And then maybe get a quick turnaround, and then we’ll see what happens from there…So we’ll see what happens. This one…do this in Sydney, put on a show. Maybe turn it, we’ll see. We’ll see what happens. But I got definitely no plans for that.”
With the duo headlining the event, UFC 325 will have some other exciting fights too. Moreover, fans can expect great matchups in the first quarter of the UFC 2026 schedule.
