Berkshire Hathaway is denying claims made in a social media video that Warren Buffett endorses President Donald Trump’s economic policies.

The statement from the Omaha-based conglomerate Buffett chairs was in response to a video circulating on various social media platforms, including on Trump’s account on Truth Social. The video suggests Trump is intentionally crashing the market to lower interest rates and make things more affordable for the middle class.

The video also claims that Buffett “just said Trump is making the best economic moves he’s seen in 50 years.” But a Berkshire press release said these claims were false.

Buffett did not endorse Trump or any other political candidates in the 2024 election because of “numerous fraudulent claims” about his endorsements, according to a separate Berkshire press release.

According to a Reuters report, Buffett said that it was important to quickly knock down misinformation and that he is not talking to anybody about the markets, the economy and tariffs between now and Berkshire’s annual shareholder meeting on May 3.

Stock prices tumbled after Trump announced sweeping worldwide tariffs on Wednesday that were far larger than investors and economists were expecting. China struck back on Friday, imposing 34% levies that matched tariffs Trump imposed on Chinese goods, according to Reuters.
