Chiefs' Travis Kelce's retirement timeline plans revealed amid wedding planning with Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce is set for a busy offseason.

He has to make up his mind on whether he’s going to retire from the NFL or keep playing for the Kansas City Chiefs. There’s also the matter of his high-profile wedding to Taylor Swift.

Sounds like one is coming before the other.

The Daily Mail reports that Kelce will be making up his mind about retirement by sometime in March.

“Travis will make the Chiefs well aware of his future plans by early March,” a source told The Daily Mail. “We will know a few weeks after the Super Bowl if he will be returning or not. That is his timeline that he has set to make a decision to play one more year or not.”

The wedding plans, at least for Kelce, won’t pick up steam until after he’s made up his mind.

That’s a conscious choice by Swift, The Daily Mail reports.

“Taylor is trying to put him in a better mood by spending more time with him and not bombarding him with wedding plans,” their source said. “She would want him to focus on [the wedding] after he makes his career decision because she knows how important that is to him.”

Kelce, 36, is coming off an unexpected 6-11 season with the Chiefs.

Kansas City is also entering an uncertain offseason for another reason. Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL late in the season, and it’s not clear at this point whether he’ll be ready to play in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.

At least he knows he’s got one ring on his way, in June.

But if he wants to do more ring-chasing in the NFL, Kelce will have to make up his mind at some point sooner rather than later, it seems.
