A broad stock market rally lost stream in the final minutes of trading on Thursday, but the major indexes still posted solid gains in the face of recent trade talk optimism.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 255 points, or 0.6%. The S&P 500 rose 0.6%. The Nasdaq Composite rallied 1.1%. The three indexes all rose for a second day in a row.
On Thursday, traders rotated back toward riskier bets in response to President Donald Trump’s trade pact with the U.K. amid hopes that a wave of deals will soon wash out the worst of the administration’s tariffs.
