Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi has made a bullish claim ahead of their MTN8 final clash against Stellenbosch FC at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday (18h00).

The KZN-born center-back, who was recently appointed new club captain after the departure of long-serving Innocent Maela, has won five domestic cup titles with the Soweto giants.

Having accumulated vast amount of experience at club and international level, the Bucs skipper says he is available for selection in the final as he was recently sidelined due to an injury.

“It’s good to be back, it’s never easy whenever you are injured. In terms of selection, I’m ready for selection, I have been training with the guys, so it’s good to be back,” affirmed Sibisi.

On the highly anticipated deciding match, Sibisi says Pirates relish playing the MTN8 as they won it for three consecutive seasons and urged his teammates to fight for ‘our trophy’.

“For us, I speak for the whole group, it’s a competition we really enjoy playing, the results have shown for the past three years. But can we do it for the fourth time? He added.

“I mentioned even before the tournament started that it’s a feeling we don’t want to let go, so on Saturday we will do by all means to try to retain our trophy – it’s our trophy so we have to fight and give it our best shot.

It remains to be seen who will come out victorious in Mpumalanga, with Stellenbosch eager to lift their maiden MTN8 title, while Pirates seek a record-extending fourth consecutive silverware.
