An Ocean County man admitted to defrauding the Social Security Administration for eight years, collecting more than $270,000, officials with the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Krzysztof Niedzielski, 49, of Toms River pleaded guilty Thursday to theft of public money and making false statements to the Social Security Administration.

From at least 2012 to 2020, Niedzielski collected $270,933 in disability benefits for himself and his family based on his inability to work due to a disability, officials said.

During that period, Niedzielski worked for a home improvement company performing manual labor and derived a substantial income, according to authorities.

Niedzielski failed to notify the Social Security Administration that he had been working and earning an income and falsely told Social Security officials that he was not earning additional income from work, according to court documents.

Sentencing for Niedzielski is scheduled for Aug. 5.

An attorney for Niedzielski declined to comment.
