The US–China trade war has entered a new front: chips. Beijing has found NVIDIA guilty in an anti-monopoly case linked to its 2020 acquisition of Mellanox, saying the company violated anti-monopoly rules. While details remain scarce, this marks a sharp escalation in the tech war. China has also announced probes into US chip imports and restrictions, while Washington has cracked down on Chinese chipmakers. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang recently struck a deal with the Trump administration to keep access to China’s market, but Beijing’s move raises doubts about its future there.
