The Los Angeles Rams are reportedly trying to swing a massive trade before the Nov. 5 trade deadline.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Rams have “called multiple teams” about trading star wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Russini reports the Rams are willing to take on some of his 2024 salary and are looking for a second-round pick in return.

Kupp is one of the best receivers in the NFL when healthy, but unfortunately, injuries have derailed his last few seasons.

In 2021, Kupp had one of the greatest seasons for a wide receiver in NFL history, securing the NFL Triple Crown as he led the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16). Kupp made the Pro Bowl, was an All-Pro First-Team honoree, won the Offensive Player of the Year award, and finished third in MVP voting. Then, at the end of the postseason, he took home Super Bowl MVP honors after he had eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns against the Cincinnati Bengals.

However, since 2021, Kupp has only been able to play in 23 games. This year, he got hurt in Week 2, and has been out ever since with a high ankle sprain. While it’s been reported he’s expected to return this Thursday night against the Minnesota Vikings, the Rams appear to have another plan in mind for the 31-year-old receiver.

If the Rams trade Kupp, it will be the third major wide receiver trade this season. Last week, the Las Vegas Raiders traded Davante Adams to the New York Jets. Then, later that same day, the Buffalo Bills acquired Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns. With all the major injuries to receivers this season, there are still plenty of teams in need of a weapon like Kupp.

If the Rams move on from Kupp in the next two weeks, it will also be the end of an era for the two sides. The Rams initially drafted Kupp in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he’s spent his entire year with Los Angeles. Across 94 games over eight seasons, Kupp has secured 585 receptions for 7,213 yards and 52 touchdowns. He should have a chance to add to those numbers on Thursday night, but that could end up being his final game in Los Angeles if the Rams find a trading partner.
